Facilities and
Activities: This is a windjammer, an American National
Historic Landmark schooner built in 1900. The vessel usually anchors out every
night. There are daily shore excursions to coastal
towns, fishing villages, and pine-profiled granite
islands. Passengers become friends, and several who met
on the boat more than 20 years ago still travel
together. One passenger first sailed in 1962 and has
been aboard for 58 cruises. Families are accepted, and
kids are allowed to help the crew if they are so
inclined. There are opportunities to see whales, seals,
eagles, and other wildlife. Marine biology cruises are
offered. The vessel participates in windjammer and schooner day
events. Bridge is open and captain accessible. English is primary language,
but often crew speak some Spanish, French, or German.
