  • Itinerary: Arctic and Antarctic.
  • Cabins: All cabins are outside, with windows or portholes. Deck 3 has 9 twin and 2 triple cabins with wash basin with shared shower and toilet facilities. Most cabins on Decks 4 and 5 have private facilities and have upper and lower berths or two lower berths. On Deck 5 two cabins with private facilities have a double bed and a double sofa-bed; and a suite with private facilities has a double sofa bed and a separate bedroom with a double bed.
  • Facilities and Activities: These are oceanographic research vessels built in Finland as ice-strengthened vessels. Each ship has zodiacs for landings, usually with one landing in the morning and one in the afternoon. At a couple of the voyages in June and July of every Arctic season, experienced dry-suit scuba divers have the opportunity to dive near the edges of the sea-ice. Dry suits are required. A physician is on board, but there is no decompression chamber in the area. No rental gear is available.
  • From November to March, the ships go to the Antarctic, often chartered by others.
  • Recent Fares Reported to Us: Arctic $1,295 per person to $3,690, depending on the number of nights. Supplement for divers: $245.

  • Itinerary: June to September goes to Greenland;  November to March cruises Antarctica, South Georgia and the Falkland Islands.
  • Cabins: All cabins are outside, with windows or portholes. Six twin cabins without bath have upper and lower berths and wash basins with shared shower and toilet facilities located on the same deck. Other cabins have private facilities and upper and lower berths or a double sofa-bed and a separate single bed.
  • Facilities and Activities: This is a research vessel of the Hydrographic Institute in St. Petersburg. She was built in Finland and was designed as an ice-strengthened vessel. The ship has zodiacs for landings, usually one landing in the morning and one in the afternoon. There is a lounge, small library, infirmary, and sauna. On one voyage in February in Antarctica experienced dry suit scuba divers have the opportunity to dive near the edges of the sea-ice. A physician is on board, but there is no decompression chamber in the area. No rental gear is available.
  • Recent Fares Reported to Us: Greenland $1,870 per person to $3,690 per person depending on length of voyage. Rates for Antarctica: $4,190 per person for 10 nights to $9,440 per person for 18 nights. Supplement for scuba divers: $500.
