Itinerary: Sepik River: There are
4 to 12-night cruises
along the Sepik River, plus special charters for museum and university
expeditions. Various cruises go between Madang and Timbunke on the
middle Sepik and include islands of Manam and Boisa, the lower Sepik
River and Murik Lakes, Angoram, Kambaramba, the Keram River and Kambot
Village, Tambanum, Black water region and Karawari River, Middle Sepik
including the Chambri Lakes. There are special cruises to the Upper Sepik River as far as Kupkain. PNG Islands: There are
7-night
cruises between Alotau, via the Trobriand Islands, D'Entrecaustreaux, Siassi
Groups and sometimes via West, East New Britain, New Ireland and
Admiralty Island. Special expedition cruises are available to all
rivers and remote islands throughout PNG and some parts of West Papua (Indonesia).
Cabins:
21. Most cabins are twin, all lower berth. There is one four-berth
cabin. All cabins have picture windows except three inside cabins. All cabins
have private bathrooms, are air-conditioned,
have satellite telephone, TV, and music system.
Facilities and Activities: There is a lounge on the wheelhouse deck with piano and lecture facilities that
opens up on large covered observation deck. There are two tenders, three
zodiacs, and a rooftop helicopter pad. A TV has PNG documentaries,
information channel, movies, and videos taken on each cruise. A cruise
director accompanies each expedition and supplements information provided by PNG guides. In addition to
shore excursions, diving and snorkeling is available.
Recent Fares Reported to Us: Four night $1,300; five night $1,750; and seven night
$2,400 per person double occupancy. Single occupancy: 50 percent more, suite
25 percent more, inside cabins 10 percent less. Children 8-12 half price
if accompanied by parents. Costs include shore excursions.
