Facilities and Activities: This ship was first used as a cruise ship on the Yangtze River when China had just opened its door to the outside world. In 1984 the ship was overbooked by 170 percent, and now many ships later the river cruises are still popular. The ship also started many traditions on board such as teaching of calligraphy and martial arts, lectures on China culture and traditional activities such as folk dance, shadow boxing, and breathing exercises.. There is karaoke, a beauty salon, business center, laundry, massage. A standard practice is tai chi in early morning on the sun deck. Many of the guests are Japanese.
