Itinerary: Weekly cruises six nights. In Southern Burgundy on the Canal du Centre near Beaune from April until mid-August, and in the fall in Camargue/Provence on the Canal du Rhone a Sete and the Canal du Midi near Avignon and Montpellier. The owners also represent the barge Fantasia, allowing a cruise in tandem for groups of 12.
Cabins: Two cabins have king-size beds, one cabin has a double bed, one cabin has bunk beds for children. Cabins have skylights or portholes. All have ensuite bathrooms.
Dining: Dinners are four course, accompanied by fine wines, with regional dishes.
Facilities and Activities: The lounge/dining area has a marble fireplace. On deck there is a plunge pool. The barge is fully air-conditioned and has tv/vcr, library, videos, email and fax facilities. There are bicycles, a scooter, fishing rods, and boules. The language spoken on the barge is English or French. Shore excursions are by foot, bike or air-conditioned minivan to historic sites, open air markets, wine cellars, chateaux. The program is flexible and can concentrate on a special theme, such as wine, food, history, art, or searching for antiques. Families are welcome. Special wine cruises in the Southern Burgundy area include visits to famous wine cellars, local vintners, and tasting of premier cru and grand cru wines.
Recent Fares Reported to Us: There is a Half-board option with breakfasts and lunches on board and dinners on shore at your expense. Full-board option includes all meals with wines on board or in local restaurants. Both options include aperitifs, wines, soft drinks, and bottled water on board. Most cruises are by whole-boat charter, but individual bookings are accepted for a cruise in August. Value season in April and November: full-board $13,250. Premium season: full-board $14,250. Deduct $1,250 for Half-board. Wine cruise in Southern Burgundy in April and August whole boat charter full-board $15,750. Pickup and drop-off are included, as are daily excursions. Not included are admissions to attractions such as hot-air ballooning, which can be arranged on request.
