The ships feature a bow ramp that allows passengers to go directly to shore and a retractable pilot house that can be lowered for the ship to pass under low bridges. There is no liquor sold on board any vessel but you can bring your own. If you take 10 cruises you get the next one free.

  • Itinerary: In winter and early spring the ship is in Panama, going between Balboa and Colon. In April and November there are 15-day voyages between Florida and Rhode Island. In the summer and fall the ship cruises the Chesapeake, the Erie Canal, the St. Lawrence or the Saguenay River, and does fall foliage cruises of the Hudson River.
  • Cabins: 48. Cabins range from 72 to 96 sq. ft., almost all outside, and have twin or queen beds and private bath with shower.
  • Dining: There is an open-seating dining room with one seating. Cuisine includes fresh local food. Bring your own for alcoholic drinks. Soft drinks and snacks available 24 hours a day. Special dietary needs can be met with advance notice.
  • Dress: Casual day and night, with no jackets or ties necessary.
  • Facilities and Activities: The ship has the ACCL bow-landing ramp and retractable pilot house, has a stern swimming platform and carries a glass-bottom boat, sunfish and a launch. There is one lounge, no entertainment.  In Panama passengers can swim, snorkel, sightsee or on one voyage go by motorized canoe to visit an Indian village in the Darien Jungle, buy a reverse-applique mola from the Cuna Indians in the San Blas Islands, walk the ramparts of an old Spanish fort in Portobelo or spot birds along jungle rivers.

  • Itinerary: The ship has 12-day cruises in the Caribbean, between St. Maarten and Antigua, Antigua and Grenada, Trinidad to the Orinoco River to Curacao, and a 15-day Panama/Nicaragua/ Honduras/ Belize cruise. Spring and summer 12 and 16-day cruises go between Philadelphia, Chesapeake and Alexandria or along the Erie Canal and Saguenay River or between the Saguenay and Maine. There are repositioning cruises along the Intracoastal Waterway between Florida and Rhode Island in spring and fall. In August and September there are six-day cruises of New England islands.
  • Cabins: 50.
  • Dining: The dining room accommodates all passengers in one seating.
  • Facilities and Activities: The hull is ice-strengthened for sub-Arctic area cruising. It has an acoustic floating deck between the engine room and main deck cabins and enclosures for the main generators to deaden sound. There is a lounge located forward and surrounded by windows, with a piano and large projection screen for lectures by historians and naturalists. Passengers watch for beluga, finbacks and sperm whales on the St. Lawrence-Saguenay cruise. There is a 24-passenger glass-bottom boat and a 24-passenger shore launch. There is a stern swimming platform. All cabins have a fresh air ventilation system. On the Newfoundland/Labrador trips, passengers stop in at small towns and villages, including L’Anse aux Meadows where Vikings had a working village 1,000 years ago and the Gros Morne National Park.
  • Recent Fares Reported to Us: 15-day cruise $2,550 to $3,150 per person double occupancy; 12-day cruise $2,160 to $3,000; and 16-day cruise $2,720 to $3,360. Six-day New England island cruise $1,080 to $1,325. Port charges $100-$220. Back-to-back cruises get 10 percent off. Some southern cruises allow passengers to board the night before departure.

    Note:
    Some special repositioning cruises are available to a small number of passengers when an ACCL vessel moves from one itinerary to another. On these sailings, there is no planned program, the ship does not follow a set schedule, passengers dine with the crew. These trips are available at a flat rate of $150 per person per day for all categories (obviously the earlier you book, the better category cabin you can obtain).
